Slideout & Leveling Issues We Fix Every Week

Slideout Won't Move at All

This one keeps our phone ringing. Before anything else, check your house battery voltage. Slideout motors pull serious amperage, and if your batteries have dropped below 11.5 volts, the motor simply won't have the power to budge the slide. If the voltage is good and you hear a click but nothing happens, it's typically a bad relay, a blown 40-amp fuse, or a motor that's given up. We carry replacements for all of these and can usually fix it the same day you call.

Slide Moves Slowly or Unevenly

When one side extends faster than the other, something is binding or one motor is weaker than its partner. On Schwintek units, debris in the gear track is the usual culprit. On cable-driven systems, a frayed cable creates drag. We clean the tracks, test both drive motors independently, and re-sync the system. If you let this go, the slide will eventually jam completely, and that's a bigger repair bill.

Rain Leaking Around the Slideout

Nine out of ten slideout leaks come from degraded seals. The wiper seals across the top and the bulb seals along the sides harden and crack from Martin County's relentless UV exposure. Once they lose their flexibility, gaps form and water finds its way inside. We also inspect the slide topper awning fabric, because a torn or sagging topper pools rainwater and funnels it right past the seals. New seals are affordable insurance against costly interior damage to walls, flooring, and appliances.

Hydraulic Jacks Leaking Fluid

If you're spotting a puddle of red or clear fluid under your motorhome, that's hydraulic fluid escaping from a worn cylinder seal, cracked hose, or failing pump connection. Don't keep running the system once it's low on fluid. You'll burn out the pump, and that turns a $225 seal job into an $800+ pump replacement. We locate the leak, swap the seal or hose, refill the reservoir, and bleed the air out. Most of these take about an hour.

Getting Your Slideout or Leveling Jacks Fixed

1

Describe the Problem

Call 772-271-5270 or use our online form. Tell us which slide or jack is acting up, what happens when you try to operate it, any sounds it makes, and any error codes on the panel. The more we know upfront, the more likely we'll have the right parts on the truck for the first visit.

2

On-Site Diagnosis

We come to your campsite, driveway, or storage lot. We test battery voltage, check motor draw, inspect seals and tracks, and pinpoint exactly what's failed. You get a clear explanation and a firm quote before any work starts. No surprises.

3

Repair and Verify

We complete the repair on the spot. Once it's done, we cycle the slideout or leveling system several times to make sure everything is operating correctly. We also clean and lubricate all moving parts while we have access. You don't pay until the system works the way it should.

Slideout & Leveling Questions

What does RV slideout repair cost in Palm City?

Seal replacement runs $165-375, motor replacement costs $325-750, hydraulic jack service is $225-525, and a full system rebuild ranges from $1,100-3,200. Pricing depends on your slideout type and what's actually broken. We'll diagnose it first and give you a firm quote before touching anything.

My slideout won't extend or retract. What should I check first?

Start with your battery voltage. If your house batteries are below 11.5 volts, the motor won't have enough juice to move the slide. This is the number one cause of slideout failures we see. If voltage is fine and you hear clicking but no movement, it's probably a failed relay, blown fuse, or burned motor. Don't force the slide manually. Call us.

How often do slideout seals need replacing in Florida?

Every 3 to 5 years here in Martin County. Our sun and humidity dry out and degrade rubber seals faster than up north. Once they crack, stiffen, or lose their shape, water starts getting inside the slide walls. Replacing seals proactively is one of the cheapest ways to prevent expensive water damage down the road.

What's a Schwintek slideout system and can you fix it?

Schwintek is a rack-and-pinion slideout mechanism built by Lippert. It runs two vertical gear tracks on each side of the slide, powered by electric motors. You'll find it on tons of newer travel trailers and fifth wheels. The gears can strip if the slide binds, and the motors can burn out from excessive resistance. We work on Schwintek systems regularly and keep replacement parts in stock.

Can you service hydraulic leveling jacks at my location?

Absolutely. We carry hydraulic fluid, replacement cylinder seals, pump parts, and diagnostic equipment on our service truck. Most hydraulic jack issues come down to leaking seals, stuck control valves, or a failing pump motor. HWH and Power Gear are the brands we see most. We handle it right at your campsite, driveway, or storage lot.

Why is water leaking around my slideout when it rains?

Almost always the wiper seals along the top edge and the bulb seals on the sides. Florida heat shrinks and hardens them over time, leaving gaps that let rain in. We also check the slide topper fabric, because a torn or sagging awning above the slide can pool water and send it straight past the seal. We inspect both during every slideout service call.

Do you work on through-frame slideout systems?

Yes. Through-frame systems use heavy-duty rails that extend straight through the RV's main frame. They're common on bigger fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes. The cables can fray, the rail channels can corrode from Florida's coastal humidity, and the gearboxes wear down with use. We adjust, lubricate, and repair these on-site. Full cable replacement typically runs $425-850.

My leveling jacks show an error code. What does that mean?

Error codes differ by manufacturer. Lippert systems use flashing LED sequences, HWH shows numeric codes on a display, and Power Gear uses light patterns. The most common triggers are low hydraulic fluid, a bad position sensor, a physically jammed jack leg, or a corroded wire connection. We carry brand-specific diagnostic tools and can usually identify and fix it the same visit.

How long does a typical slideout repair take?

Seal replacement is usually 1-2 hours per slide. A motor swap runs 2-3 hours depending on how accessible the motor is. Hydraulic jack seal replacement takes about an hour. Full system rebuilds can take a full day. We'll give you a time estimate along with the price before starting any work.
